Polaroid I-2: My experience
I wanted a camera that could give me creative freedom. As I was browsing Polaroid’s site, I came across their most expensive camera, which is also advanced. Normally, it is priced at €600, however, I managed to buy it on Black Friday and also became a Polaroid member, which is a free sign-up. This resulted in me only paying €400 in total.
After taking many photos on past outings and holidays, I have found myself wanting to try a new medium in photography. As much as I love photography, it can be very repetitive. I decided to go out and buy a Polaroid. Using different types of Polaroid film is refreshing and gives a hands-on experience to my creative process.
The I-2 has six modes:
Auto Mode: This setting is ideal for capturing everyday shots. Handy when you don’t want to overthink the settings.
Aperture Priority Mode: Gives you control of the F-stop. Good for controlling the depth of the Field. The widest is f/8, and it can go up to f/64 for sharper focus.
Shutter Priority Mode: Lets you control the shutter speed. Useful for capturing motion blur or sharp stills. For longer exposures, a tripod is recommended.
Manual Mode: Gives you full control of the camera settings. I mainly use this mode the most to get an understanding of it. To be able to practice and experiment more of the creative process.
Timer Mode: Using your phone, you can connect it to the I-2 and be able to set up a tripod to take self-portraits or group photos.
Double Exposure Mode: The ability to overlay two or more shots in one frame. This is great for creative experiments. It also supports Triple and Quadruple exposures.
Exposure Value EV: This is separate from the modes. You can manually adjust the EV to brighten or darken your photo.
