IT JUST KEPT GETTING WORSE…
At 21, it just got worse
I had dermatitis on my scalp. It was very flaky, and at times, due to the intensity of scratching can get infected.
My own hair was even falling out from all the of the scratching and rubbing. I could feel the dryness in my hair along with how infected it was
It affected most of the areas of my hair, top, back and front.
should i…?
Or will it make it worse…?
At 22, it started to affect outings.
I had to be careful when it came to drinking alcohol.
Whenever I was out and about drinking, I had noticed that my skin would be more irritated than before. It felt like the alcohol just weakened the skin barrier, which made it easier for me to scratch the skin, causing it to get infected and bleed.
Going forward, I would always stick with the title above, should I? Or will it make it worse…?
My clothes had hurt…
Until i found what worked…
At 23, I honestly stayed away from jeans.
When I was wearing jeans, walking around would cause me to get rashes all over my legs. The same applied to wool jumpers.
I did, however, find an alternative, like Chinos and cotton clothing. Chinos are more breathable, and I don’t feel any rashes at all. As for cotton clothing, I feel like it is the safer option in terms of longevity.
I had to be disciplined…
to limit myself…
At 24, showers had to be switched up big time.
I would be spending a lot of time in the showers, around 20 mins with hot water.
I had decided to time myself in the shower for 3-4 minutes with lukewarm water.
It took some time getting used to, but it was a necessary change that was very much needed.
It left marks…
never went away…
At 25, my chronic condition had left me with a couple of scars
At first, they appeared on my legs. Most of them became infected and would take weeks to heal. I had mostly worn long trousers to hide the infected scarring. Unfortunately, the worst of it was my right hand, which was hard to conceal, especially in public. Of all the infected spots I had over the years, this one in particular took a year to heal. Many creams were used to get rid of it, thankfully, in the end, it cleared up with the help of an antibiotic cream
To this day, I still have the scars
Felt like acid was poured
on my skin…
At 26, it was mainly trial and error.
I had to deal with priortising with my daily creams as i had hypersenstive skin. One bad skin product would set me in a world of agony, something that i wish to avoid all together
The dermatologists that I had went to supplied me with some samples to use. Some worked. Jowever there are some samples of cream that would constantly burn my skin all together. At one stage i had applyed the wrong sample of cream onto my skin which had me screaming my head off as the pain was so intense.
